Understanding the Cold Front
A potent cold front is rapidly sweeping into our local communities, bringing a drastic drop in numbers across the map. By the time Saturday arrives, daytime highs will struggle to climb out of the 40s in many neighborhoods.
Meteorologists emphasize that this plunging mercury will also be accompanied by notably brisk and biting conditions. If you are traveling through various cities and towns this weekend, expect a very different atmosphere than what we felt earlier in the week.
Preparing for Frost and Freezing Air
The swift arrival of this cold air mass means residents will need to trade their light jackets for heavy winter coats immediately. Gardeners and homeowners also need to stay vigilant as frost threatens vulnerable plants.
Freezing temperatures could easily impact parts of the state as the stable, frigid air mass settles in for the next few days. Such dramatic weather changes remind us of the diverse beauty found across all Connecticut counties during the fall.
Whether you are enjoying local parks or planning a cozy weekend indoors, this cool-down is our season’s most noticeable transition yet. Be sure to protect sensitive vegetation and bundle up tightly if you are heading out to experience the crisp New England air.
