Milford Eyes Scaled-Down 189-Unit West Avenue Apartment Complex

As a longtime local journalist, I have seen many real estate proposals come across our desks, but few spark as much neighborhood interest as downtown and suburban housing shifts. A development company linked to Metro Star Companies is once again seeking approval for a fresh apartment complex project in Milford, Connecticut.

This newly modified submission, named The Natural, scales back significantly from an earlier, much larger concept that had previously been floated for the exact same location. Understanding The Natural Development Plan

The updated proposal calls for a total of 189 residential units situated at 553 West Ave. This layout represents a substantial reduction from the 342 units originally contemplated for the site.

Property development of this scale always requires careful balancing between modern housing needs and environmental preservation. As we examine local growth, it helps to understand the unique characteristics of our New Haven County communities.

Key Project Specifications and Layout

The upcoming complex will span six distinct residential buildings clustered together on a sprawling 57.3-acre parcel located conveniently near Interstate 95. Developers have planned for 261 total parking spaces, which thoughtfully incorporate 27 electric vehicle charging stations to support sustainable transit.

Metro Star Companies is already a familiar name locally, as they currently own and manage multiple residential apartment properties throughout the wider Milford area. When considering a move to the region, visitors and future residents often look into the best where to stay options nearby.

Environmental Focus and Conservation Strategy

Out of the massive 57.3-acre property, only about 15 acres have been designated for active development purposes. The remaining majority of the land is carefully partitioned to protect local ecosystems.

Specifically, the plans set aside 32.3 acres for strict preservation alongside nearly 10 acres dedicated directly to natural resource and conservation use. For outdoor enthusiasts who appreciate regional preservation, our guide to nature and outdoors highlights similar landscapes.

Wetlands Review and Next Steps

While the primary residential structures will be constructed safely outside of actual wetlands, certain site work and parts of three buildings do fall within the city’s 150-foot wetlands review area. Because of this proximity, the development blueprints incorporate extensive stormwater management systems.

The project is now officially scheduled for a comprehensive wetlands permit review by the local Inland Wetlands Agency. Local stakeholders will continue monitoring how this scaled-down concept progresses through city approvals.
