Origins and Founders
Thomas Hooker Brewing Company was first established in 1996 under the name Troutbrook Brewpub. You might be surprised to learn it was originally located in the old Spaghetti Warehouse building on Bartholomew Avenue in Hartford.
The brewery proudly takes its name from the founder of Connecticut, Thomas Hooker, giving it deep local roots. This connection to Connecticut’s history has been important to the brewery’s identity from the start.
In 2006, Curt Cameron became involved with the brewery. There’s a story about Cameron asking for a Thomas Hooker beer at a Farmington restaurant, which shows his early interest in the brand before taking a larger role.
Evolution of Brewing Techniques
Over the years, Thomas Hooker Brewing has earned a reputation as an incubator for brewing talent in Connecticut. Many brewers who now work at newer Connecticut breweries gained valuable experience at Hooker first.
